SAVORY FRIED RICE
Cooking by the Book


2 carrots, shredded

1 cup frozen peas, thawed
1 medium onion or 6 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup cashews or other nuts
2 cloves garlic, diced
1/2 cup raisins
4 cups cooked brown rice
turmeric to color (optional)
onion salt to taste
a few shakes cardamom
Chicken style seasoning to taste


Sauté first three ingredients in a little oil or margarine. Add remaining ingredients, stir
and heat through. Yield: 6 servings.
